About

My name is Adam Henderson, I'm a primary school teacher and a writer. This is my personal blog. On it, you can find information about my work and where to find it. You can also find my thoughts on writing, and on stories currently tumbling around the pop. culture zeitgeist (movies and books).

As you can most likely tell from the art-work in my logo, I specialise in horror fiction, though I'd like to point out that it's probably not in the way you think. I like The Texas Chainsaw Massacre a lot more than I like A Nightmare On Elm Street, and I have a tendency towards realism in my writing. That's not to say that supernatural elements don't appear, but I'm all about the subtle scare.

If possessed dolls are your thing, you should look elsewhere (there are hundreds of independent writers covering such endeavours). I'm all about that point where genre fiction and literature collide, I believe that penny dreadfuls and Booker prize winners are not mutually exclusive. Cormac McCarthy is a major inspiration in this regard (No Country For Old Men is probably one of the greatest books ever written).

So, if you think there is a darkness hidden deep within the subconscious psyche of most people, and if you enjoy reading fiction where ordinary, decent people begin to slowly unravel, then wrap your deranged gums around a few of my tasty licks-- you can find them in the 'What I've Written' section of the blog.

The aim of this blog is not just to shill my work (though plenty of shilling will be done, rest assured), but also to communicate with the people that read it. If you believe certain sources, we're entering into a new world of social media, where the consumers are contributors to an artist's work. I don't know whether that's all a load of hooey, and I think that maybe individual expression is something that needs to be valued, but I do know that I love writing, I love reading and I love watching movies. But above all else, I love sharing fiction in all its forms with interesting people.

I encourage you to read this blog, comment on posts (even if it is to call me a stupid cocksucker) and even drop me a line.
